In a joint statement issued after the talks, the U.S. announced that it would resume security assistance to Ukraine and would not halt intelligence sharing. During the discussions, Ukraine accepted the U.S. proposal and agreed to a 30-day temporary ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"429\" data-end=\"756\">At an event held at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump responded to the ceasefire proposal, stating that Ukraine had agreed to it and expressing hope that Russia would also support the agreement. He hinted at direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and emphasized his efforts toward mutual understanding.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"1064\">During the talks, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised Saudi Arabia\u2019s mediation and urged Russia to accept the ceasefire terms and move forward with genuine peace negotiations. He credited President Trump for initiating the discussions and reiterated that ending the war was the primary objective.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1383\">Representing the U.S. in the talks were Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Middle East Ambassador Steve Whitcoff. The Ukrainian delegation included President Volodymyr Zelensky\u2019s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1385\" data-end=\"1570\">Meanwhile, speaking to the Russian state news agency TASS, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova indicated the possibility of future contact with U.S. representatives.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"2017\">A dispute between Ukrainian President Zelensky and U.S. President Trump, along with Vice President J.D. Vance, occurred at the White House on February 28. Since then, high-level talks between the U.S. and Ukraine had stalled. Relations between the two countries had deteriorated after President Trump halted U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. Kyiv has since been making continuous efforts to restore ties with Washington.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2165\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Now, all eyes are on Russia\u2019s response to the ceasefire proposal.
