Agency, May 15, 2026 – Following high-level talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, both leaders claimed the two nations had reached an “excellent trade agreement.”

The summit, which focused on trade, technology, aviation, and international security, drew attention as a meeting between the world’s two largest economic powers. Trump described his visit as “highly successful” and emphasized that the discussions resulted in significant trade agreements benefiting both countries.

During the final stage of the summit held in Beijing, Trump walked alongside Xi in the Zhongnanhai gardens near the Forbidden City, noting that “very good trade deals for both nations” had been concluded.

Trump’s visit aimed to expand cooperation in agriculture, aviation, energy, and artificial intelligence, as well as to maintain dialogue on global strategic differences, including tensions in the Middle East.

President Xi described the visit as a “milestone” of historic significance, highlighting the need to build a new relationship based on constructive strategic stability. He expressed confidence that future cooperation would continue to strengthen ties in a more balanced and stable direction. Xi also promised to send Chinese flower seeds to the White House Rose Garden as a symbolic gesture of goodwill.

On the first day of the summit, in an interview with Fox News, Trump said Xi appeared supportive of several U.S. priorities. Notably, China reportedly agreed to purchase 200 large jets from Boeing, although formal details have not yet been released. Trump also stated that China had expressed interest in buying U.S. oil and soybeans, potentially easing the impact of recent trade tensions that had shifted Chinese agricultural purchases toward Brazil.

The talks also addressed Middle Eastern affairs. According to the U.S., Xi clarified that China has no plans to provide military assistance to Iran and emphasized keeping the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz open for global trade. The Chinese Foreign Ministry later issued a statement stressing the need for a broad and lasting ceasefire and called for the restoration of normalcy in international shipping routes.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that discussions included the creation of regulatory “guardrails” for the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence, highlighting the importance of dialogue between the world’s two AI powers. However, disputes over advanced technology exports and Chinese access to U.S. tech remain sensitive issues.
