October 28, 2024/ The Israeli army reported on Sunday that five soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon. With this, the death toll of soldiers fighting there since the ground campaign began on September 30 has reached 37.

“The soldiers were killed during fighting in southern Lebanon,” the army said in a statement, mentioning that they were killed on Saturday.

Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel on October 8, 2023, in support of the Palestinian militant group following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israel the previous day.

Israel had started ground operations in southern Lebanon before significantly increasing its airstrikes on Lebanon at the end of last month.

According to official data analyzed by AFP, at least 1,615 people have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the war on September 23. However, due to data limitations, the actual number may be higher.
