Agency, November 6 – The Republican Party is projected to maintain a majority in the U.S. Senate. Media sources are forecasting that the party will secure 51 seats out of the 100 total seats.
Previously, the Democratic Party held a majority in the Senate, winning 51 seats. However, in this election, the Republican Party has reversed the outcome.
Key wins for the Republicans came from Bernie Moreno in Ohio, Jim Justice in West Virginia, and Deb Fischer in Nebraska.
The Senate not only plays a critical role in law-making but also holds decisive influence over appointments to important positions in a new presidential administration.
Following this election, for the first time, there will be two Black women in the Senate: Lisa Blunt Rochester from Delaware and Angela Alsobrooks from Maryland, both of whom are Democrats.
